Here's some information Neha sent in advance of her visit: My online portfolio: https://sites.google.com/site/msdhruvsportfolio/homeA presentation I made at ALA about lessons I did in the CPS school with 7th and 8th graders - http://courseweb.lis.illinois.edu/~ndhruv1//aqua/aqua/index.htmlThe actual lessons - http://courseweb.lis.illinois.edu/~ndhruv1/Cash/cash/index.htmlThe Media Center website for my suburban school - https://sites.google.com/site/jeffersonmediacenter/ Kathy Donohue, KDonohue@catalystschools.org Catalyst Circle Rock Charter School, CPS Charter School on the west side (Central & Washington).
"I am only in my 2nd year here, and I have learned a lot! (Mostly about negotiating in a bigger system!) Last year, I was basically a supplemental reading teacher for grades 3-8. This year, my role is changing to include supervising the RtI component (mornings) as well as seeing all the kids for checkout (afternoon). My goal is to build an outstanding library program, but right now, my administration isn't quite sure what that might be! So I am doing what is asked and sneaking in librarianship where I can! My hope is that over the years they will be more comfortable with what I am trying to build.
And...if any of your students would like to volunteer...I am merging 1000 books from my former library into my current library, so it will be a job! I'd love some helpers who might get something out of the experience--learning to work within Destiny."
